As I worked on this small pastel, I was deeply mindful of the ebb and flow of each wave and, ultimately, the awesome power of the sea. To be able to see into the depths, down through the crystal clear unpolluted water, is such a blessing. It should make us all so aware of how important it is to care for our environment - after all, we only have the one! This oil painting is a snapshot of one beautiful February day, the waves crashing onto the rocky Ballycastle shoreline, along the North Antrim coastline.

It was an afternoon of incredible light, freshening winds and fast moving cumulus clouds - a truly wonderful experience. I have tried to capture that atmosphere and, hopefully, have been able to convey the emotions of my experience. I am ever grateful for the clean, fresh air we breathe.
