You may require a wide-planked oak for traditional properties which could be nailed to joists or you may prefer a more modern narrow short-planked floor which could be glued, nailed or more conveniently engineered oak, which is available in 14mm or 21mm (21mm being the structural grade), is very versatile as it can be laid as a floating floor and eliminates any gapping caused by shrinkage but still looks solid and authentic. It is also available in different finishes such as lacquered, oiled or unfinished.
