H.G. Gladwell & Sons

H. G. Gladwell & Sons have been trading from Copdock Mill for over 100 years. This family owned company are now one of the largest independent manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors in the South East of England. Herbert George Gladwell started the company in 1912, originally as a country mill. From the late 1940s until the early 1990s the business primarily sold animal feed from Pauls Agriculture in Ipswich to farmers in Suffolk and Norfolk. The decline in stock keeping in East Anglia put an end to this and the business subsequently diversified into the manufacture and wholesale of pet food.

Herbert's sons Fred and John were active in the business and the family tradition continues on, as John's son Mark is now Chairman whilst his son Simon is the current Managing Director. Today, we manufacture our own range of cage and wild bird mixes and seeds, small animal food, such as rabbit, guinea pig and hamster coarse feed, as well as fishing bait, including the Crafty Catcher range.
