The roots of Henry Williams & Son (Roads) Ltd. date back to the 19th Century where records have uncovered an early generation referred to in the writings of Thomas Telford. At the turn of the 20th Century, Henry Williams began to successfully operate a busy fleet of canal barges along the Shropshire Union Canal, delivering roadstone to the counties of Shropshire and Cheshire.
Putting to use the knowledge and skills he had gained whilst serving in the military, he returned to operate a number of quarries within North Wales and Shropshire.
