It was David Miller and his brother William who opened the original D & W Miller & Co. in the second year of the nineteen sixties. They quickly expanded their manufacturing portfolio, securing contracts to supply barrel hoop iron to the whisky industry and subsequently formed the ‘Western Steel Company’ to specialise in this market. So successful were their efforts in this area that Miller Steel continues to supply hoop iron to many of the leading drinks manufacturers and to all the independent cooperages in Scotland.
