Moorside Furniture

I have a passion for making furniture, there is just so many aspects of the process that I enjoy, from coming up with a new design to finishing the piece with oils waxes. I love working with timber, from unseasoned logs to kiln dried boards. Cutting open an unusual log, or planeing a board to reveal the beautiful natural patterns and colours inside is such a pleasure. I enjoy curves in my work, and try to incorporate them as much as possible whether it be adding a subtle curve to a table apron, or building structural curves into a chair. Straight lines can be beautiful to me too, I guess the years of bowl turning have programmed me to think in curves! In my turning, it's usually my intention to turn the piece in such a way out of unseasoned timber to maximise movement in its drying, allowing nature's own curves and the trees stresses and tensions to relieve themselves.
