He recognised the need for a specialised supplier of ready mixed concrete and established Readymix Huddersfield Limited in 1959. The company now supplies concrete from various locations around Yorkshire. In 1969, Mobile Concrete Pumps was established as one of the first concrete pumping firms to operate in the North of England.

Johnsons Wellfield Quarries at Crosland Hill, Huddersfield was established in 1854 to satisfy the demand for building stone created by the industrial revolution. The Myers Group is proud to be able to serve the construction industry with all its requirements.
