Our iron beds belong to a bygone age, when furniture was made to last for generations. Do you remember when it used to be the norm to ‘pass down’ or inherit our treasured household items? Today, we live in an increasingly throwaway society. Popular high street and online retailers supply iron beds which are are usually designed to be assembled once. Mass-produced iron beds are often imported from outside the UK. These cheaper iron beds don’t tend to stand the test of time. Once they’ve been taken apart and reassembled a few times, the joints loosen; poles bow and shear; and fixings and slats can break (as many of us will have experienced!). Nights in Iron’s hand—forged iron beds are made in a centuries old, traditional way. They provide supreme comfort and durability for many, many years.
