What is Osteopathy? Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment aimed at providing relief from neck and backache, leg & arm pain, sports injuries, headaches and a variety of other musculo-skeletal complaints. Osteopaths have a minimum of four years undergraduate training including anatomy and physiology, neurology and pathology as well as a pre-clinical course similar to orthodox medicine. They are trained specifically in the diagnosis and treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions. Treatment is aimed at restoring the tissues to their normal function and enabling patients to return to everyday activities as quickly as possible. Once this is achieved, advice is given on posture, lifestyle and exercises to help maintain this function and prevent future problems.
