Sports and remedial massage is the manipulation of soft tissue aiming to increase range of movement, prevent injury and provide rehabilitation of muscles, ligaments and tendons within the body. It uses various methods to mobilise, strengthen and stretch soft tissue, to enhance performance whilst encouraging circulation and promote healing of damaged tissue. Athletes use sports massage to maintain optimum fitness and prevent injury. However, non-athletes can also benefit from treatment to improve postural related problems, aid the healing of minor muscular injuries and assist the improvement of joint range of movement and mobility.
