Shouri Shotoryu Karate

Shouri Shotoryu Karate can trace it's roots back to Gichin Funakoshi ( the founder of modern day Karate ) and maintains it's links with those early methods. The style emphasises the development of the mind through body, the ultimate goal being to train the mind and body to work as one. Shouri Shotoryu Karate is not a competitive style. A strong mind need not be an aggressive mind and it is our belief that competition, with it's myriad rules, points scoring, and medals, actually detracts from the original philosophy of the Empty Handed Way.

From time to time the club holds courses, which you will receive information on, and will be expected to attend, as each counts towards gaining your next belt. During one of these events, you may find one of the clubs closed. By attending regularly you will be aware of all the up and coming events. If your unsure if the club will be held or not and if you have any other queries please just ask.
