Traditionally, a high quality paint finish could only be achieved by using oil based paints. But these have a number of disadvantages including smell, harmful emissions, long drying time, and a tendency to yellow. Although the paint industry was forced to reduce harmful emissions from oil-based paint in 2010, emissions are still high and in some respects performance has suffered. Now with new technological advances, high performance water based alternatives are available that perform just as well but without the above drawbacks. I use these wherever possible including Farrow & Ball Eggshell and Dulux Ecosure, both of which are excellent. I fully understand that having work done in your home can be a daunting experience so I go to great lengths to make it as painless as possible by protecting your furniture and possessions and keeping the work site clean and tidy. I even use earphones instead of having a loud radio. The sanding system I use is dust free and linked to an extractor. I always contain the area as best I can so that dust doesn't travel around your home.
