The Barton Veterinary Hospital

The Barton Veterinary Hospital & Surgery was established in in 1890 in Lower Bridge Street. It moved to New Dover Road in 1928 where it was expanded in 1967. The premises underwent major refurbishment in 2009. The practice is recognised by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as a Small Animal Veterinary Hospital and a veterinary nurse training centre. This accreditation is based on multiple inspections and guarantees you the highest level of equipment, staff training and clinical care for your pets. Today, Barton Veterinary Hospital is still the only RCVS recognised hospital in Canterbury. The Practice Standard Scheme (PSS), organised by the RCVS, and delivering the different possible accreditations is a voluntary scheme. About half of the practices in the UK are paying to be part of it and the Hospital accreditation is the highest one available to obtain.
